Pixel

Quadruped robot dog programmed with interactive behaviors using robotics, computer vision, and embedded systems. The project integrates servo-driven locomotion, touch sensing, proximity detection, and face recognition to create a robotic companion that can bark at people, respond to petting, avoid obstacles, and perform custom movement routines.

Build Overview

This was my first robotics project! Pixel is the PiDog by Sunfounder and comes with a lot of capabilities out of the box. I programmed Pixel to respond to touch, detect his "food", and detect human faces. I also experimented with GitHub Copilot and asked it to choose a sequence of movements for Pixel to perform when he sees a face. I did so by creating a markdown file of all dog-like movements, per Sunfounder's documentation, and referencing it in my prompt to GitHub Copilot as a source of inspiration. The result was pretty cute!
